We were half way through a coaching conversation, when my client suddenly had one of those Ooh-I’ve-just-realised-something moments.
I love these. They happen in 1:1 sessions and when I’m running groups.
Insight strikes from out of the blue, and something just has to come out. Proceedings usually get interrupted. As they did now:
“Hang on, hang, on, I’ve just realised something. It’s the middle of the month, and I forgot to worry about money! Oh my word!”
The relief was palpable, because this was the very problem they’d come to me with, a few weeks previously.
You see, their business income was somewhat cyclical—reliable, but up and down as the weeks went by—and this meant that come the middle of the month, they started to worry.
They didn’t want to worry. They’d tried not to, but they couldn’t help it. They knew it was silly (the money always came in, regular as clockwork) but it was really starting to bug them.
So they reached out for help.
So, the problem was very clearly mid-month money worries, therefore we spent a couple of sessions very much not talking about mid-month money worries.

No, we talked about the nature of this thing we call ‘worry’:
- What it is
- How it works
- What it’s for.
And as a result, it went away. Just like that. As it so often does, with Innate Health coaching.
What didn't happen
Note that my client didn’t say, “I’m worrying but I’m ignoring it.”
Nor did they say that they had managed to “put the worry into perspective.”
We didn’t have to delve around, identifying reasons or root causes of the worry. And they weren’t given any tools or techniques to use, in the face of worry.
Nope. It was more straightforward than any of that.
The worry simply didn’t happen.
There’d been a system reset, and it no longer made sense.
They literally forgot to worry.
We both just sat there, grinning at each other for a while.
