Your reality is a perception of the mind

A short video with three helpful metaphors for how we experience the world 🎬

Your reality is a perception of the mind
Look closer… Herd of camels (and shadows) by George Steinmetz | www.georgesteinmetz.com

We live in the feeling of a thought-generated perceptual reality.

Crazy, right?!

(If you don't think that's completely bonkers, check yourself for a pulse.)

Because as I sit here and type this, it really, really looks like there’s a window on the front of my head, that I’m looking out of, onto the world.

But there are no windows. There’s no light inside the skull, and no sound. There’s just fluctuating energy that’s being turned into my reality, by the universal, impersonal, creative Principle of Thought, moment to moment.

It's not an ‘outside world’ – it's all happening within.

🫠

The most amazing sleight of hand—the best magic trick in the world, ever!—is happening for us, every second of our lives, day in, day out. Everything we feel is as a result of that internally-generated, apparently separate reality that is real, for sure… but it’s not true.

(How could it be? Whose version is true? Mine? Yours? Any other of earth’s 8 billion human inhabitants?)

And that has some massive implications!

It can be hard to wrap your head around and a helpful metaphor to better understand this, is to look at something where it's a bit more obvious what's going on – like my daughter and her love for her teddy bear, for instance.

In this short clip, looking at the MECHANICS of how we experience the world, I share this metaphor and two more that point to the inside-out nature of our experience as well – that's three for the price of one!

  1. The teddy bear
  2. A flip-book cartoon
  3. A scrolling sign on the tube

It's not something you can use… it's something to see for yourself.

4 minutes to upend your perceptions.

I know it's a lot, so if you watch this and are left with questions or concerns, ask in the comments below, and I'll do my best to address them with a reply.
