Those pesky 3Ps Police

I have quite a lot of conversations with people about the 3Ps (The 3 Principles, as articulated by Sydney Banks in the 1970’s)

And it’s funny, because I hear people saying things like,

• “I’m not ‘all in’ on the 3Ps,” or
• “I’ve been away from the 3Ps for a while, but I’m back into them now,” or
• “I still practice this other thing, so I’m not really living a full 3Ps Life,” or just plain old
• “I think I’m doing the 3Ps wrong somehow, because everything’s not awesome.”

Now, if the 3Ps were actually an approach or a tool that we could learn, understand, remember and apply, then I’d be with you.

(To be fair, under such circumstances I’d be ‘rubbish at the 3Ps’ too 🤣)

It’s almost as if there are some 3Ps Police, ready to knock on your door and cart you away, because you’re doing it wrong.

“No peace of mind for you, sunshine – you’re not showing the requisite amount of dedication to the 3Ps.”

Thankfully, the 3Ps aren’t an approach, or a tool that we can learn, understand, remember and apply.

They’re principles (i.e. just the way something works).

Here’s a game we can play. Swap out ‘the 3Ps’ for the word ‘gravity’ (another principle) in those four statements, and see how they scan.

• “I’m not ‘all in’ on gravity.” Oh, ok then!
• “I’ve been away from gravity for a while, but I’m back into it now.” Well, good for you!
• “I still practice this other thing, so I’m not really living a full Gravity Life.” Ummm, ok?
• “I think I’m doing gravity wrong somehow…” Ha ha, as if that could even be a thing!

Hark! What’s that knock on the door? Oh criminy - it’s the Gravity Police!!!

Where people get the idea that the 3Ps are a technique, or something you have to take on as a particular ‘way of being,’ is honestly beyond me.

They’re simply a description of the way we experience life, that’s all.

So if you’re:

1. Alive (= “Mind”)
2. Not under general anaesthetic (= “Consciousness”)
3. Having an experience (= “Thought”)

…then you can safely say you’re ‘all in’ on the 3Ps.

I don’t see how that’s something you could ‘get wrong.’

If it looks like there are 3Ps Police somewhere, telling you otherwise, there aren’t.

(Well, if there are, then you needn't worry about them, because they’re out on their annual shindig with the Gravity Police, who are just about as real.)
