I’m always mildly amused when someone refers to what I point to, and the work I do as ‘a philosophy’.
As if it’s something I choose.
Like, I wake up and encounter the first situation of the day and think,
“Right, must remember to apply the philosophy of Innate Health to this. I get good results with that.”
Crazy talk.
I might as well look at my socks on the floor and choose to apply the ‘philosophy’ of gravity to picking them up!
“Today, I shall be believing in gravity!”
😂
The etymology of the word philosophy is from the Greek philo– (loving) + sophis (wisdom), and as far as I can tell, ‘wisdom’ doesn’t have any form, or structure, or rules.
But the general understanding of ‘philosophy’ that I encounter most is a set of rules, or beliefs. A practice. A way of doing things. A philosophy.
But guys…
- I’m not interested in rules. It’s rules (or invisible beliefs) around ways-of-being that keep us stuck.
- I don’t want you spend time with these Daily Reminders and ‘try’ and ‘take on’ what you read, as a belief. Stop it!
- And there’s nothing to practice regularly, that I know of (because that would constitute a rule, surely)?
What I point to each day, and try and make more visible for you, are principles (just like gravity, only not as obvious).
Impersonal, universal, constant, unchanging principles.
Principles that you cannot be separate from.
You don’t get to choose.
This is the reality you inhabit.
And just like you don’t have to solve, figure out, apply, remember, fix or try with gravity—because you’ve just seen how it works for yourself, and you live your life, operating with that understanding—it’s the same with your untouchable wellbeing, and the fact that your feelings are a reflection of thought, not your circumstances.
You just live your life, operating with that understanding. (And the more you do, the more you’ll see.)
So if you catch your mind making out like there’s something to do with any of these pointers, give it the day off, will you?
It is Sunday, after all.
