Off the back of a live session I ran on the topic of Parenting, I had a wonderful question sent in from someone about what they should expect in terms of career and time, and motivations, if they ever decided to start a family.
I gave the answer that I so often have to: I have absolutely no idea!
😆
All I know is the experience I've had (which is totally unreliable in terms of recall, and non-reproducible, because it's based on my own conditioning!) and some basics about how experience in general is put together.
So the question provided the perfect opportunity to have a look at how we go about making such big decisions, and where the answers to our questions come from.
(Hint: it's a lot closer than you think.)
This clip has got some very helpful MECHANICS of the mind in there, some amusing personal stories and even a profound quote from the hit TV series - ‘This Is Us.’ (I know, right?!)
Enjoy!
Q: “I don't know whether to have kids! How do people balance their energy for work and other interests, once they're a parent?”
