You're already doing it

We are our own best teachers… but too often we ignore the evidence that's right under our noses 🫣

A little snippet of wisdom I once heard from Michael Neill, I think maybe in answer to a question:

“How do I take my thinking less seriously?”

Because that's what I'm always recommending to you, isn't it? In fact, just the other day, we had a whole video that concluded with that very punchline.

“But how should I do that?”

And Michael's answer was:

🤷🏻
You already are.

Thoughts come and go, ten to the dozen, and the overwhelming majority pass on through the receiver with nary a second glance. We don't hang on to them or take them seriously at all.

(Which is why you can't remember what you were thinking 30 minutes ago – give it a go!)

And then there are some thoughts that get plucked out of the ether and seem different somehow. The more ‘important’, negative ones that the mind has this weird tendency to try and hang on to.

But they're still just thought. We are free to think anything at all, and free to let those go too.

No rules.

If only we had a guide

We do. Because of this genius bit of human psychological design:

…our feelings let us know what thought is up to, in any given moment.

And as your friend and mine, Richard Carlson once said,

“You have at your disposal a foolproof guidance system to navigate through life. This system, which consists solely of your own feelings, lets you know whether you are off track and headed towards unhappiness and conflict – or on track, headed toward peace of mind.”

Or, as Michael Neill concluded, more simply:

“Heaviness never helps.”

Have yourself a day of lightness, love and understanding.
