Scary stories come with scary feelings

I mean, that’s the whole point, surely? 📕

There’s a thing that comes up regularly with people, and that’s the issue of feeling a bit scared.

I think we all feel this way from time to time. I know I do. And just last night, on our Premium 🔖 Group call, it was happening to someone with regard to money.

They were scared. About what would happen if they didn’t have any money.

It’s really common! (Kind of baked into our genes, I think.)

The other day I was listening to a client, who was being plagued with scary feelings. Something bad, that threatened their physical safety, had happened in the past and as a result, they felt scared in certain situations: being alone in the dark, primarily.

This sucks, but it’s perfectly understandable. When the mind has accepted an experience into that repository we call our Thought System 📦 then it’s free to pull that file back out at any time, using the past to try and predict the future.

It’s normal, it’s natural, and as crazy as it sounds, these feelings are actually the mind doing its best to be helpful (I know right – doesn’t seem like it, does it)?!

Anyway, we were talking this problem through and I suddenly found myself agreeing wholeheartedly with it all and saying,

“Absolutely! Scary stories always come with scary feelings!”

Which gave us both pause, because it was immediately apparent in the silence that erupted, that the reverse was true, too:

😲
Scary feelings are always the mind producing scary stories.

Which put a whole different spin on the situation my client was facing. Because all of a sudden they could see that:

  • The scary feeling wasn’t actually happening now
  • When it does happen, the subject/content of the story being created isn’t happening either
  • There’s an almost infinitesimally small chance of it coming true
  • Even if it did, that would be a different moment, and all manner of brilliant, built-in capacities we have, designed for this very situation—presence, focus, fight, flight—would kick in and we’d handle it.

All from seeing this ultra-reliable connection:

🔑 Key Message: We live in the feeling of a Thought-created perceptual reality.

Armed with this insight, imagine all the scary stories you can safely enjoy!
