So I get in the shower in a foul mood. Don't know why. I'm obsessing over some problem or other. Something's pissing me right off.
(You know, to the degree where I could quite easily wash my face with shampoo or something.)
5 minutes in, it's gone.
There's nothing on my mind. I'm not ecstatic or anything, just a bit blank.

So then, this little voice pops up in my head and says,
βIt's a bit quiet in here. Now, what was I fretting about?β
β¦and I catch myself delving around in my brain desperately trying to re-fucking-activate my worries!!!!
What's THAT all about?!

We have a perfectly good, expertly evolved, absolutely genius, personally tailored mental self-clearing mechanism that we all take for granted.
Our psychology is just as beautifully homeostatic as our pancreas, or our blood, or our lungs.
