I remember back when I very first started coaching, I used to get frustrated and disheartened about being a beginner.
I didnโt want to be a beginner. Being a beginner sucked.
I wanted to have a load of experience and be super whizz-bang and to have everyone come to me because I was so good at what I did and had all these skills and knowledge and slicknessโฆ
โฆand of course I had none of those things. Because I was a beginner.
Thankfully, pretty early on, I had a very memorable coaching session of my own where I learned what it was all about. And how โbeing a beginnerโ actually equates to โbeing relatable.โ
Iโd never thought of it that way before.
Not long after, I started seeing the work I was doing a bit differently. Less of a โthing;โ less a hat to wear, or a role to inhabit (truly, Iโve never been all that comfortable with the term โcoachโ โ I donโt really see myself as one!) and more a way of showing up.
I decided that my practice involved showing people that itโs ok to be human, by being human with them, at the same time pointing them to the staggering beauty that lies beneath.
And to be honest, itโs kind of stuck ever since. That notion led to the birth of the Daily Reminders, and here I am, helping people with this one simple thing.
Being by your side, as we fumble our way through life, distinctly human.
Beginners together.
