- Description: Does it look to you like wisdom should somehow *answer* your doubts, or make them go away? Ah. 😬

Here's a little [Sunday](https://www.gilespcroft.com/tag/sunday-spiritual/) thought for you to marinate in today.

Because we have moments of doubt, don't we? Whether we're [making decisions](https://www.gilespcroft.com/tag/decision-making/), or [changing career](https://www.gilespcroft.com/tag/careers/), or just engaged in everyday [parenting](https://www.gilespcroft.com/tag/parenting/) of our kids – it's almost like there's this little voice in the backs of our heads, whispering,

> 📦 🗣️ *“Am I doing the right thing?”*

And it's very easy to see doubt as ‘bad’ – as if it's a sort of deficiency. There's a bit of a subtext to doubt that goes something like,

> *“If I was more in tune with life energy/God/wisdom/intuition, I wouldn't have so many doubts. I'd just do stuff. Without doubting.”*

It's almost as if we feel like wisdom will *answer* our doubts; like it's the opposite of it, somehow. That it's there in the background, waiting to *answer* our doubts with encouragement:

✨

**“Yes! Yes – you* **are* *doing the right thing! Keep going!”*

## **Listen for wisdom**…

That's what they say, isn't it? And that's what this looks like: Less doubt. More wisdom.

It's like some spiritual game of pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey, where wisdom's there, telling us we're warmer… colder… warmer… warmer! Yes! That's it!

📍🫏 🎯

But all of this is just meeting ‘doubt’ (i.e. an active Thought System 📦) on its own terms; trying to answer the questions and concerns that it raises, ‘using’ wisdom.

Once again, it's the mind innocently trying to settle things, by attempting to think its way out of a thinking problem, when all this really does is ‘[turn up the master volume](https://www.gilespcroft.com/turning-up-the-master-volume/)’ on the system, generating yet more noise.

🤦🏻‍♂️

Which is why you'll find that the more you try and escape from doubt, using wisdom as a tool… the more doubt you'll experience.

---

So here are the ingredients for your Sunday Spiritual marinade:

- **What if…** you don't have to ‘[trust wisdom](https://www.gilespcroft.com/the-trouble-with-trusting-your-wisdom/)’?
- **What if…** you don't need there to be ‘less doubt’ before deciding, or moving forward?
- **What if…** ‘doubt’ is like all the other forms of thinking: harmless, and useless mind rubbish; safe to ignore?

Remember:

> *“An ignored guest quickly leaves.”*

Doubtless!

So much of what we're taught to do, innocently reinforces the problem.

[The trouble with ‘trusting your wisdom’It really looks like ‘wisdom = good’ and ‘worry = bad’ … but is that really that case? 🤔![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/9b/f3/9bf3d316-7d32-494b-814f-a7d94d6358c3/content/images/icon/DR_Lockup-Black-3-142.png)The Daily RemindersGiles P Croft![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/9b/f3/9bf3d316-7d32-494b-814f-a7d94d6358c3/content/images/thumbnail/photo-1631107453254-e3dea948999e-1.jpeg)](https://www.gilespcroft.com/the-trouble-with-trusting-your-wisdom/)
