The other day, I wrote something about the two minute green tea timer I use, to prevent me from accidentally poisoning myself.

(*‘*[*A trusted system*](https://www.gilespcroft.com/a-trusted-system/)*’* if you missed it.)

That’s me, winning at life, one realisation at a time

😂

When I was wrapping it up for you, my head was very much into the *next* thing I was about to do, and I didn’t really conclude it properly.

(There's a lesson there, I'm sure 🤔)

Why was I telling you that setting a timer gets a task so off my mind, that it no longer exists in consciousness, or [even in reality](https://www.gilespcroft.com/the-ticking-clock/)?

But then someone posted a little comment about it on social media, and I realised the conclusion I should have shared with you.

I replied to them,

> *“If only people could learn to pay this little attention to their insecurities!* 😆*”*

…because *that’s* the thing I wanted to say!

The opposite of having something ***off* your mind** is having something ***on* your mind** and given that thought is the ONLY thing we EVER get to experience, throughout our ENTIRE lives… well, it doesn’t really make sense to go paying attention to the crap your mind comes out with, does it?

😱

Because then, that’s your reality!

So, next time you catch yourself fretting about something—anything!—set a metaphorical two minute timer for it… forget about it, and get on with your life.
